Microsoft is planning on stopping the sale of OEM XP in the next few months for all OEM vendors.   Per Microsoft direction all OEM partners, including Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. must have all Windows XP systems SHIPPED by October 22nd 2010.  If this is important to you, you should allow for budget planning and purchases. The following link that may be helpful to get more information on this topic.

Microsoft will continue to support XP until April 2014 - but no more sales after October 22nd.

But that support through 2014 does require a user be on Service Pack 3.  Microsoft ends suppprt for service pack 2 on July 13, 2010.
